Way too similar, they're two different people with different personalities. Give them separate names, so their lives will be easier.

Are their first names Ariel and Aria? If so, I completely agree with the first poster. My sisters and I all have super similar names, and it causes a lot of problems. We all also truly dislike our names due to the apparent lack of forethought by our parents. I'm sorry. If you're open to first name suggestions, how about:

Annabelle
Layla
Audrey
Addison nn Addie
Adriana

Ariel Laurel and Aria Lauren are very similar. Perhaps you would consider Aria Lorelei or Arietta.
