What Do You vs. Think Of vs. Darcy

What do you think of the name Darcy for a boy? I know that some people use it for a girl, but I feel it is more of a boy name, but want to know your thoughts and opinions on it. Siblings are Connor, Oliver, Rose, and Elliot. I'm not really concerned with it "fitting" with his siblings names. Middle name options are John, Jacob, or Walter. Thanks!

I think Darby would be better for a boy.

I love Darcy and ONLY for a boy! So handsome! Reminds me of Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice.

Although Darcy used to be a man's name...I recommend you listen to A boy name Sue by Johnny Cash. It will change your mind...Goodnight

You sound like a pretty selfish mom. You are not concerned with him fitting in with his siblings? Haven't you ever read the story The Ugly Duckling? Fitting in with siblings is very important. Why would you want him to stand out like a sore thumb? Are you angry at his father? Jacob Darcy, John Darcy, or Walter Darcy would be a fine name.

Some more modernly accepted masculine variants that you may like:

Dorsey
Darcel
Dale
Darek
Darryl
Daren
Percy
Danny
David nn Davey
Quincy

Darcy is much more common nowadays as a girl's name. I have an uncle named Dana, and I know the struggles boys with "girl's" names face. Even though Dana was used as a boy's name in the 19th century, it is very much now a "girl's" name. Think about how a potential name could affect a child growing up outside of if you just like the name. There are names I like but wouldn't use because of this. I wouldn't want to set my child up for hardship as soon as they're born. I'd like to choose a name that I like, but that I think will also grow with them and won't be a burden. Good luck!

I think it's fine. I think of Mr. Darcy from the Jane Austen novel. I think it just means from Arcy, not like it has a feminine meaning or anything. Sounds masculine enough to me. At least where I live, I don't think it would be a problem.

Darcy is a fine name for a boy. I have known just as many boy Darcys as girl Darcys. I actually feel like the boys fit the name better. I also think it sounds just fine with the siblings names. Darcy John gets my vote.

My sons are named Riley and Avery and they never had a problem with having unisex names but they also know boys with these names.
