Honest vs. Opinions vs. Please

Hello! I am in a sticky situation, as I would like to call it. You see, as many others, one of my favorite girls name is Ella. The problem is that this is my husband's ex-girlfriend's name. As you can see, this name seems forbidden to use. I do have other favorites, but this name is just so beautiful to me. I will soon ask my husband for his thoughts, but I want other's opinions first. I have nobody else to ask, so I turned to my favorite baby name opinions website. Sorry for the long post. Opinions please.

I would just ask my husband first and go from there if I were you, Ella is such a pretty name. Maybe you could change it a bit? I myself don't like Stella or Bella as much as Ella, but in this case you might have to change it a bit, or maybe he won't be bothered at all. One you use the name, it will become her name, you know? Good luck, I hope you find a name you love.

My friend is in a similar situation and I personally would look for alternatives, your in laws might remember the girlfriend and connect the dots for one but eventually you or your partner could regret using it too. Perhaps Eloise, Ariella or Arabella nn Ella so then you have the option to use it or give it a miss.

I honestly don't see anything wrong with naming the baby Ella, maybe if it were a very unique name no one else you know has, but let's be honest, Ella is and has been one of the top 5 names for the last 10 years. I can literally name 5 girlfriends alone that all have daughters named Ella, not to mention other acquaintances. If you love the name, go for it. Your daughter will absolutely own it and it will sound different paired with her little face and personality. Trust me on that. Go with what you love. 💗

I would just use it! Ella is a popular name so I don't think they will immediately think of her. Ella is pretty by the way! Good luck!

I will always regret not using the name Samuel for one of my sons. It was my ex, someone we both knew, and have stayed in touch with all these years. Still a great name. Now if your ex was an a3$, then I wouldn't use it. But if he was a decent guy and you both love the name, go for it.

I can't imagine your husband or you even wanting to use this name at all. Wouldn't you be worried that everytime he said her name he would think about his ex-girlfriend? I would.

I wouldn't use it and would not want him to want to use it either. Ava or Eva are pretty.
