Ford vs. Carter vs. Lincoln

We like the idea of naming our children after presidents. We found out it is twin boys!!! So want all our kids to have "presidents last names." Our daughters name is Madison(4) and our son’s name is Grant(2). Which 2 names would be best??

carter and clinton would be great! they are both presidents names, but it’s not too in your face. plus, they are both great names on their own and great together for twins. i love the nn clint. i love grant, by the way. gl!

Definitely Lincoln for one! What about Roosevelt for the other? Adams would also be really good, or Jefferson.
Carter is a nice name but he sucked it up as a president, so I personally wouldn’t go there. GL!!

I would save McKinley and Reagan for if you had another girl some day. Ronald Reagan was a male but Reagan is a sur name so it is not difinitive either way. It can be used on both male and female children...personaly I would only use this on a girl. Carter and Lincoln nn Link!

i don’t think it matters if carter was a good president. it’s still a good name. it’s not like it’s a completely made up name. i wouldn’t worry about that. the theme idea is cute, but i wouldn’t be too themey and obvious about it. i like the previous suggestion of clinton and carter. lincoln or ford isn’t so subtle like carter, grant, and madison are. anyway, good luck

and Jackson.
I would stay away from more current presidents as there deeds are recent and may leave people resenting a name based on the association with the namesakes politics and actions....as Clinton did for me. Great theme though! Good Luck!

Um, I think it totally matters if a president was any good... Carter is a good name on its own, I agree, but if you are naming a baby AFTER someone I think it would matter what that person did, was like, etc.

They aren’t HONORING him. they are just using his name (which happens to be a popular one at the moment) to create a theme. I’m just saying that carter is the nicest most subtle name of the 3 she has chosen. I just want to reassure her that Carter would be fine if that’s what she chooses. Now, I would agree with you if Lincoln was a horrible president, because when most people hear the name Lincoln, they think of
him. Carter is just a name to me. :)
