Unity Elaine is very pretty. I like the mn Faith, but Unity Faith sounds kind of like a church or something. Amaryah is ok, but it is hard to spell and Unity Amaryah is quite a mouthful. Unity Elaine is the perfect combination of originality and beauty.

I have to agree that Unity Faith sounds like a church. I also agree that you totally missed the mark with the name. It may be unique, but in no way is it classic. That being said, I vote for Elaine as the middle name because she needs a good middle name to back her up when she decides she needs another name to go by.

Unity is just awful for a name! Why burden your child? Faith is gorgeous, albeit a bit overused these days. Amaryah Faith or Amaryah Elaine would be unique and is much prettier than unity. I like the idea behind unity, but the word itself doesn’t make a very pretty name. Sorry..........

Amaryah is a pretty, unique name. It would be much better for a person than Unity. I think the reason Unity isn’t used very much is because it doesn’t make for a pretty-sounding name, as do Faith and Grace, which is why those are so overused.

I’m being negative for the sake of the child, not because I can. Just think of a playground where people are calling out to their friends. Can you imagine someone calling "Unity! Hey Unity, you want to play with us?’ It just doesn’t sound right. Or good. Therefore, I’m being negative so that the parents may realize that the name isn’t appropriate for a person and may change their mind before their child is stuck with it.

I like Charity and Felicity much better than Unity. It is original and unique, but it doesn’t sound very pretty, sorry. But if you love it, use it. I like it best with Faith. And to all the posters fighting with each other (like those 2 who ended their comments in duh...): put your big girl panties on and deal with it. This poll is to help the poll maker, not argue with each other. Grow up. Good luck, Poll Maker
Amaryah sound bad but Unity sounds good??? Where do you live? At least with the name Amaryah she won’t be teased.
Poster, have you considered reversing the names and naming her Amaryah Unity? It will be equally as unique a name, but may be a bit easier for her in life.

I love how when someone has a valid negative critique all the postitive pollys say don’t listen!
These are VALID critiques and opinions!
Unity is not pretty. It means Harmony/oneness, Harmony would be a much prettier fn.
It is not classic, its kinda a hippy name if anything or serious holy roller style.

I’m not the only one who doesn’t like this name. Clearly. It may be the only name on here that really is ’unique’ in the sense that there won’t be another person with this name. (And for good reason). And its not that I’m not used to the name. I’m not used to Sari or Catriona (in other polls) either, but I still think they’re fine for a name, even if I’d never use them myself. Unity does not fit into this category.
FYI, my children’s names are Skye and Chase. Unique, but not ugly. Maybe not everyone’s favourite, but at least you can imagine a child with the name.

I don’t understand why names like Millicent and Prudence are considered nice and old-fashioned when Unity is not. Well, for the same reason that Millicent and Prudence are NOT considered nice....
Anyway, Elaine or Faith get my vote for a middle name, because as said above, if/when she decides she doesn’t want to go by the name Unity, she needs a decent (and common, for this purpose) middle name to use.

I love Millicent and Prudence, they are old fashioned/conservative and pretty. I do think that Unity while in the same category of old fashioned/conerservative is on the opposite spectrum of way too straight laced and uber conservative on par with Verity/Chastity.
I love alot of names except for the new trendeigh/unisex/misspelled names styles and if that makes me ultra conservative in someones eyes that’s fine by by I am not offended since I think names like Kynzee/Kiealie are super tacky teen mom names.
Poll maker, if your heart is set on Unity go ahead and use it.

See how it feels? You know you’re not the only one commenting, yet you assume that I am. Well, I know I’m not because for one, the comment above your is not mine. :O. really? There’s more than one person?
If you must must must use this name, Elaine is by far the best middle name.

This is the most comments I’ve seen on a poll in a long time!
I’m sorry poll poster, but I don’t like Unity. It just seems strange as a name because it means together and one person can’t be together... I’m afraid I can’ explain it well, but an example is with the name Joy, it describes her emotions/attitude, but with Unity it would describe what? Her togetherness with herself. Again, I’m sorry. I just don’t understand this name’s meaning.

And poster above mine (Jen), it should read ’hear’ not ’here’ and in any case should be see not hear. (Yes, I’m a grammar freak)

Love the suggestion of Unity Elizabeth Rose. When she is older she can use Elizabeth/Rose professionally if Unity is something that won’t carry her.
Names do effect you in the workplace as much as looks (sad to say) and of course education. There are quite a few articles about how your name affects your personality/job. It is pretty interesting. Just a thought for everyone not just poll maker.

But unity means ’the state of being united or as a whole.’ I’m sure everyone prays that she is ’together’ within herself, but this seems a harsh name to giver her. I would not name a child something she is not guaranteed to be. I would not name a child Chastity either. Joy, on the other hand, can refer to the parents’ joy. Faith can refer to the parents’ faith in her becoming something good. Perhaps Faith Unity? That would mean that you have Faith she will be united, perhaps with other people. What do you think?

Yes, but with a name with such an obvious and clear meaning, it is more important that the name not mean something bad, strange, or unlikely to be fulfilled by the person with said name. If the name were Jacob, it would be less important, since not everyone knows the meaning of the name.
