Meara ? vs. Molly ?

Twin girls due in June. We have decided on Molly and Meara for their fns but can’t seem to find a mn that goes with Flanagan. Any suggestions on mns that do not end in an N or are used alot like Grace, Faith, Claire. Thanks~Terry & Jen

I’d prefer Meara spelled Mira.

I like Molly Victoria, Molly Natalia, & Molly Bridget. I like Meara Joelle, Noelle and Eileen. Katherine ends in the N sound and DH has a daughter from a previous marriage named Katie Scarlett so any Kathryn, Kaitlyn, Kates are out. We aren’t really in to old fashion names like Estelle, Ruth, Blythe. I can think of all kinds of mns for Molly but Meara is hard--I love the name but just am having a hard time finding a mn to match. Our last name doesn’t make it easy. Thanks for the suggestions. Any others? I am hoping to find the perfect name.~Jen

DH grandmother spelled her name Meara but Mira does look nicer, doesn’t it? I don’t think it would matter how I spelled it, do you? It would still honor her and it is still pronounced the same. I think it is pretty.~Jen

I love alot of these suggestions for Meara. I like Eve, Whitney, Avery, Alice. I hadn’t even thought of any of those names. I am going to run them by DH and I like the spelling Mira, too. Thanks so much. If you can think of any other names, please leave a comment. I’ll check back tomorrow.~Jen

It matters how you spell Meara because it mean joyful in Gaelic. Mira however means bitter in two different langueges, and has no Irish back round at all. Trust me there will be people who will pronounce wrong Meara all the time, but if you want Mira to be pronounced the same way as Meara then you’re crazy. E and I make different sounds. I really hope that you went with Meara, because the grandma or mom of your husband probably would have been [removed]ed with you for giving your kid a Latin name. And Meara is very easy to type on a keyboard. You could have gone with Meara Catriona Flanagen or Meara Maeve Flanagen.
