I love the idea of using a boys name paired with a feminine middle name for a little girl. What are your thoughts on Evan Alyssa or Logan Elizabeth or Cole Hannah or Kyle Allison?

Im confused, why will your daughter have a boy name??
posted by guest :: 15 years ago | report
Honestly, it is just ok. It kind of sounds like you were hoping for a boy but had a girl instead. I do like Tyler for a girl. Tyler Elizabeth, Tyler Katherine nn Tyler Kate, or Tyler Allison would be cute.

Either use Allison or Kate as a middle name. These will definetly pair with any name perfectly and make any boy name girlish and feminine.

Tyler Kate
Bradee Allison
Cassidy Allison
James Allison
Mason Kate
Brodie Kate

Why dont you give her a feminine first name since she is a girl, and a boy middle name?
posted by guest :: 15 years ago | report
Thanks for the suggestions....Ryan maybe spelled as Riann or Ryann is cute.

I grew up with a boy name (Christian) and loved it because it wasn’t a common name like Kate or Sara or Michelle

What about Ryann Elizabeth?

I think it a wonerful idea! Both my daughter’s have boy names and they are the two girliest girls in the world! They are Shawn Alaine, who is 4, and Karsyn Leigh, who is 2. I love your names too! my favorite is Logan Elizabeth. For Carsyn I almost named her Austyn Taylor. But one warning! we ran into a slight problem with this idea. I am now pregnant with a boy, and i want his name to be really manly compared to his sisters and it has been hard finding a name. If you have any more questions just ask, i’m here for you girl!!!

Good Luck with all! -Alyssa

Alyssa, I was under the impression you weren’t too happy about your girls’ names as you said you "ignorantly gave them boys names."

Hi this is Alyssa, I am very happy about my girl’s names. I love them a lot, and they fit my girls perfectly, But I had never thought about having a boy (that’s where the ignorant part comes in). So now I’m having trouble naming him.

Why would you do that?? I have a girls name that was often mistaken for a boys due to it’s lack of popularity at the time (Lauren). I HATED it when I would be asked, "isn’t that a boys name??" And trust me that was asked frequently in school because lets face it, kids are kids. Stick with girls names for girls and boys for boys. It’s not clever, not unique, it’s just... ugh!

It sounds like you wanted a boy but got a girl. For pete’s sake, give her a girl name! If you must, how about a unisex name like Taylor, or something like Charlotte nn Charli? Jeesh!

Alyssa here- Sorry you don’t like it. I can’t help you with that. But know one I kno of have ever mistaked my girl’s for boys, they are always like: "thats so pretty for a girl" etc... and where I’m from there are a lot of girls named Carsyn, Shawn etc..... Know one seems to have problems with it. So POLL POSTER please do not be scared away from naming you daughter a boy name. I think it is pretty. My girls are just fine, don’t be discouraged please.... You won’t regret it!!

Alyssa- Thank you for your support!!!!

My name is Christian and I absolutely loved having such a unique name...yes, I got the "isn’t that a boy name?" comments all of the time, but I think that my name makes me more memorable than just a "Plain Jane" girl name.
That’s why I want to name my daughter with a "boys" name

Tyler Katherine is pretty!

Yeah, no problem! That’s why I named by duaghters Shawn, and Carsyn! They are pretty! I think:
Austyn Lyn
and
Logan Rae
are very pretty.
I like Lagan Alyssa together but then i feel very bias because thats my name. lol :)

Girls with boy names is not unique...its weird and kind of trashy imo. But if you must, I like Evan the most.

Hi it’s Alyssa, Why would you even say it’s trashy! that is very rude! This is not a bash fest, it’s a baby naming site. you could simply say i do not agree!?

Hi I am Kendall and Emersons mom. I have a little boy in the middle of my two princesses who I named Preston. Having two girls who I gave a "boys" name had nothing to do with wanting a boy and not getting one. I, like Alyssa, simply liked their names for girls and not for boys...I think that they are better suited for girls and quite cute. I get complimets on their names all the time. Alyssa I would have used Karson for my little Emmie except my brother is named Karson and he would have died. I love Shawn and Karson on girls along with others. Good Luck poster.

If you were to name your daughter Cole, how about Kohl for a girl. Kohl-like the store. I think that would be adorb. Let me know

I hope you do name your boy Britney! I bet those of us who named or girls boy names arent half as rude to you as you are to us. It really doesnt matter. I hate that people are so protective of boy names. We arent stealing them...I have been acused of that....if a mom wants to name her daughter Logan, Emerson, Karson, Evan, etc...it is there deal. You guys can still name your boys whatever you want.

I want to thank everyone for their opinions (whether I liked them or not=) My husband and I have some great suggestions and some new favorites to think about! Best of luck to all of the other future mom’s to be!!!

I notice these polls are usually by moms who don’t have sons.

Emerson and Kendall’s mom-Would you really be happy if you ran into a little girl named Preston?
What if it got really popular on girls, and your little son was constantly mistaken for a girl by substitute teachers, or teased by classmates for having a "girl’s name"?
Is it really so appealing now?

Honestly, I think there are so many confident, unique names that one can use for girls. I just don’t see the appeal of tacking a boy’s name on one, and yes, there will be plenty of people who think, "Oh, they wanted a boy."
Now, most likely these people will keep their mouths shut and lie and say, "Oh, that’s so cute."

But people are posting here, what lots of people think irl.

The bottom line is, it’s your little girl, so name her what you love.

But I wish Every Mom On This Site would just take a minute to think about it from the other side.
Can you honestly say you would be o.k. with your son’s name being used on girls?

If so, you’re a more open minded mom than I!

Good Luck Christian! I hope you decide to follow through with this! -alyssa

Can you imagine a little boy named Elizabeth? Thats how stupid boy names sound of girls.

I am not trying to be rude, but do you ever think about how your child will feel in the future? I mean, she has to live with the name, not you. You might like boys names on girls, but maybe she won’t, and she will be stuck with a boys name. What about reversing it and naming her Alyssa Evan, or Allison Cole, etc...this way you get the boy name and you won’t run the risk of giving your daughter a name she hates. Hope you take this as my honest opinion. I am trying to be as polite as I can. Good luck!

Thank you poster 19:23:28....years ago i named my son a name that is now popular for girls, too...it is hard to swallow, now and i feel badly for him whenever some one thinks he’s a girl. I appreciate your understanding and perceptive comments...

Seriously you guys???? Where do you think UNISEX names CAME from. Do you REALIZE that all the popular girls names {i.e. Taylor, Morgan, Ashey, Lindsay, Stacy, ect.} were once all boys names, and we wouldn’t have those beautiful girls names if those moms didn’t step out of the box and name their girls boys names? My name is Ashley, my sister’s name is Stacy, and my cousin’s name is Lindsay. Seriously, I don’t think I could live with being named Laura or Mary, ect. Could you imagine how many different Mary’s and Laura’s there’d be out there?

Go with the boys names, because eventually if you don’t name them this, someone else will be that mom to step outside the box and stand up for the names they like. Most people nowadays are beginning to realize names are used for BOTH genders, regardless of the name.
