Samuel vs. Sam

We really like the name Sam as its short and masculine, if we did name him Samuel, we would hardly call him by his full name, either Sam or Sammy. Should we call him Samuel so he has a full name or just stay with Sam? Thanks Monica and Geoff.

I like Samuel so I would use that and the nn Sam. That way he has options when he gets older. I also think Sam as a nn is used alot for girls too which would be another advantage of using Samuel as his full name.

I love the name Samuel, but also the nn Sam. The only reason i would use Samuel, is because when he’s older, it may sound more professional to be called Samuel. :)

i think Samuel nn Sam is better, that way he has a more formal name to go by when he’s older
