is vs. Satchel Jacob vs. too weird?

I love the name Jacob and my husband will go for it if the first name is Satchel. Its not that I dont like it, but I was wondering if it was too weird of a name? WDYT? ~Michelle, Jason and baby boy

It’s cute for a baby boy, but not so cute on a college resume or job resume...

Could you imagine someone introducing themselves as, "Hi, I’m Satchel (Williams), and I’m interested in biochemistry." I can’t...sorry!

Sorry, I think that it is too weird. I would use Jacob as the fn and Satchel as the mn. You’re carrying the baby and going through labor, so you should have more say in the name. ;)

I wouldn’t use it bc of what a satchel is. It’s not that I don’t like the word or the name. I also heard a teenage guy at the mall say "awh you kicked me in my satchel." I don’t know if that’s a new word for privates or not.

Is your husband wanting to name him after Satchel Paige? If so, his real name was Leroy Robert Paige, and his career included playing for St. Louis. Maybe Jacob Robert, Jacob Louis or Robert Jacob?

I love non-traditional names, but I would feel for a boy named Satchel growing up near where I live... I do think it’s too different.
