? Daisy vs. ? Layla vs. ? Jack

My husband Eddie and I are adopting two sisters and a brother from the same family. The children are all under three so we would like to change their first names to give them a fresh start with their new family. We’d like to use their birth given first names as their middle names, however. The two girls are currently named Daisy June and Layla Rae and the boy is named Jack Matthew. We were thinking Olivia Daisy but are clueless on the other two names. Please help! -Karen, Eddie, and the kids (Shelby Abigail, Julian Noah)

I prefer Landon to Holden and Sheridan to Vivian but I love the choice of Olivia Daisy

I think keeping their current first names would be best and maybe changing the middle names. Even children under one recognize their name. It may be confusing? IMO. Good Luck!! It’s wonderful you are adopting.

I like the idea of changing the first names and giving them their birth names as their middle names. It’s a great way of connecting them to their biological family and their new adoptive family. Best of luck to you and your family! It is hard for siblings to get adopted together and you are doing a great thing by taking all three of them into your home. How old are they all exactly if they’re under 3?

Landon Jack is cute.

Not sure if I am liking Olivia Daisy, doesn’t flow well IMO

Daisy is turning three next month, Jack is 18 months, and Layla is four months. We originally were just looking for an infant and we found Layla and then found out that she had siblings who were also up for adoption and we couldn’t bare to see them split up and we fell in love with Layla so we met her siblings and fell in love with all three.

We LOVE LOVE LOVE Landon Jack.

I agree, Sheridan is really cute! But if you were to spell it Vivienne it may change my mind ;) Landon is much cute, imo. I love Olivia, but its sooooo common!
I think keeping the first letter may make it less confusing.
Diana/Diandra/Deidre/Danica/Demitria
Lisa/Liana/Lorraine (nn Raine!)/ Laura/ Lorelai/ Leah/ Liana
Jacob/Joseph (I love the name Jake, but Jake Jack is a little funny. Its a good nn for Jacob though)

Best of luck, and let us know if you like our suggestions!

As much as you might dislike the girls names, I don’t think changing their names is in their best interest. They are old enough to know their names. Look up the Jessica Deboer case. Her name was changed at 2 and 1/2 and everyone was horrified....the parents were advised not to "take away her idenity" by child the [removed] s.

I really like Layla! The spelling is a little funny thpugh, I like Leila. Lila is said differently, put is so cute! I also like Lyra.
Even though I disagree with changing their names, I do understand WHY you want to change their names. And you should go with YOUR heart, not what we tell you to do! BoL

I think we’re going with Olivia Daisy, Landon Jack, and Jennifer Layla.

We are planning on calling the children by their middle names (which would be their first names, Daisy, Jack, and Layla) and then when they are older they can decide if they’d like to go by their middle or first names.

I see no problem with you changing their first names as long as they go by their middle names. The kids won’t even realize their names have been changed until their in school and by then, they will be able to understand. My name is Evelyn Grace but I went by Gracie all throughout school. Then when I got into college, I decided I’d rather go by Evelyn. It was never a problem for me.

Shelby, Julian, Olivia, Landon, and Jennifer sound great together and so do Shelby, Julian, Daisy, Jack, and Layla so no matter what you call them or name them officially, you’re family will be a cohesive unit. Congratulations!

Yes but your name was always Evelyn Grace There to old to be getting new name just keep them if you wanted to have a fresh start you would have gotten a new born there names her so cute and you want to change them to something as ugly as Landon and Phoebe and Olivia there names are so beautiful y would you change them Layla Daisy and Jake that’s so cute please don’t change there name please they are so cute GL

First of all, they are too young to know the difference between middle names and first names. We have a niece who barely grasps the concept and she’s four. Second of all, we are not going with Phoebe (perhaps you should work on your literacy). Thirdly, we are still going to be calling them by their now middle names as to not add any confusion in these early stages of development. Please keep your rude comments to yourself, JordanNichelle.

i was not being rude I’m telling the truth my sister stated talking when she was 6 months and i no a 1 year old that knows her full name so if your niece don’t no that than that’s not my problem all i sad was they have very beautiful names already and there’s no need to change there names if there going by there middle name just keep there name or change there middle name that would make more since

JordanNichelle, you type like you are a 12 year old girl. You don’t belong on this site. Let the grown ups talk sweetie.

I think Jennifer Layla, Olivia Daisy, and Landon Jack are very cute. I do strongly support the decision to call them by their middle names until they are older. When they are old enough to learn their full names they may not entirely understand the changing process but I don’t think it will be a huge problem. Good luck and congratulations!
