I think that it is a bit much. And dont like the Mona ending. IMO it will lead to teasing by over sexed boys in middle and high school.I do like the suggestion of Desirae nn Desi.

Desdemona sounds like Desperate, although Desi is adorable. Alternatives could be Desirae, Denise, Dessa, Desmona.
