I like it, it’s different. I like Rory but it does sound somewhat like a nn. You may want a more formal name for him like Roland and his nn could be Rory. But if you are set on it, then just go for it! If you are set on it then our opinions shouldn’t really matter...

I like it! i know a rory and its a fine first name. I dont believe in extending a name you like just to make it more formal. if you like rory name him rory! GL
