Advice Is vs. Needed!

Do you think Autrey ( pro Aw Tree ) could be used for my little girl. It’s my grandmothers maiden name and I really want to honor her. Her first name is Aleta and I definitely do not want to use that one! Her mn will be Claire. Thanks

I think Autrey Claire would work, but prepare yourself that every time you say her name, or when she introduces herself later, people will say, "Like Gene Autry?" I just think that would get tiresome. Claire Autrey would be adorable, however, and still honor your grandmother.

For the record, I think Aleta Claire would be cute, but if you don’t like it, that’s what counts. :)

I still think Audrey is a nioce way to honor her because it’s so close. I really don’t like Autrey, but it’s not horrible.

but may be better as a middle name

Middle name is best. It looks like Audrey spelled wrong, not the best looking.

Autrey is the name of a street near where I live, and I always thought it would be a cool name. But, on the other hand, I do understand the other posters’ opinions, and I do agree that Audrey would be GORGEOUS and still be honoring.

Autrey is so adoreable! But prepare yourself to have to correct people all the time cause its very close to Audrey.

My maiden name is Autrey and I am planning on using it as a middle name for one of my children. I don’t think that it would make a good first name. I had it as a last name and still got the Gene Autry reference ALL the time. I can’t imagine if it was my first name. I would go with the middle name.
