Sawyer Grace vs. Beckett Sundance vs. Parker Brian

Am a little surprised that the responses to my last poll (same three first names) elicited such definite response that none were unisex first names. Now am testing various middle names and hoping some light might be shed on what exactly it is that makes these first names seem so masculine?

The Top Baby Name is...

Sawyer Grace Dorst

0%

Beckett Sundance Dorst

75%

Parker Brian Dorst

I love all 3 of these for girls! So cute and spunky! You have a tough choice. I don’t think I could pick between these three. They’re 3 of my fav. girl names. If you’re looking for really unique, I’d go with Beckett. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a girl named this, but I thought of it myself as well. :) Sawyer and Parker I’ve considered too and have heard for girls. I love them. Good luck!

Maybe because ALL of these names are used on boys and most of us have probably NEVER heard any of them on girls. I am a teacher, and I would automatically assume boy for any of these names.

Sawyer and Parker--never seen/heard on a girl.
Beckett-never heard as a first name.
Not horrible for girls, but I would automatically think boy if I just saw the first and last name.
Sorry-but Sundance is NOT a name.

They are masculine because they are associated with boys....

According to Social Security baby name list: Sawyer is #225 for boys, Beckett is 480, and Parker is 103. Neither Sawyer nor Beckett appear in the top 1000 for girls, and Parker is 505. So these are not unisex names. Parker is the closest, so I guess use that if you must use any.

You are seriously considering naming your daughter one of these? These are, without a doubt, masculine boy names. There are thousands of girls names, pick one!

I like these names... you may want to avoid polling for opinons! Many who vote on this website are very rigid with thier belief as far as boy/girls names.

It’s not being rigid! It’s actually thinking about a child growing up in society with certain names.

Beckett is all boy to me.
Sawyer is cute, but I think it is cuter on a boy.

I think Parker can be cute on a girl, but I wouldn’t pair it with Brian, as that is definitely masculine to me.
Parker Brianne or Parker Grace would be cute

I don’t hate any of the names; I just wouldn’t choose any bc I don’t think they’ll age well.

I would like Parker Sundance
I also like Cooper for a girl

I agree, having an opinion is not being rigid and if most people think these names are awful on a girl the poster may want to take that into consideration...if she didn’t want opinions why would she be on here in the first place?
And I dislike all the choices, guess I’m just rigid!!!

I dislike the names, too. It is very open minded to ask for other’s opinions, and giving them honestly is not being rigid, it’s being, well, honest.

I don’t consider myself "rigid" either...just honest. If someone doesn’t want an honest opinion about a name they’re considering naming their child, then why are they here?

Thank you all! This has been very helpful! (Although not sure there was always a tone of positivity.) I am named Summer - no, my parents were not hippies - and my name has defined me in ways I could not begin to articulate. It is more than a label - it is my identity. My name was the best and biggest gift my mother ever bestowed.
