Gavriel vs. Gabriel vs. Gavin

We told our 2 year old that we liked the name Gabriel if our baby was a boy or Grabrielle. She proceeded to pronounce the B as a V, like the name Gavriel... which is a name that I happen to have a soft spot for. If his name was Gavriel, the nickname would probably end up being Gavvy, which we could also get from Gavin. Which would you pick?

i like Gabriel and Gavin, but i think Gavriel just looks like you can’t spell Gabriel or a mixture between Gabriel and Gavin. at 2 she probably will say it wrong but once she gets older she might think it’s a bit silly to name the baby that because that’s how she said it. as Gabriel is quite popular right now, i’d go with Gavin, i also like the spelling Gavyn, and it would be better for the nn Gavy

Gabriel or Gavin are fine, but not Gavriel. Gavvy could still be a nn option for either.

I’m not sure, but I think that Gavriel is actually a name (Biblical, maybe?). Still Gavin is one of my absolutely favorite names of all time, so I’d naturally vote for that!

I love both Gavin and Gabriel, but Gavriel looks made up and silly/misspelled.

Gavin is a wonderful name! I’m a bit biased because my son’s name is Gavin. Just out of curiousity...what is your daughter’s name?

Gabriel or Gavin, Gavriel looks like a mistake.

Name him Gabriel and let her call him Gavriel or Gavvy. My SIL Gloria is still called Glo because that’s how she and her younger sister pronounced her name when they were small. So she has a nickname with family history. It could be the same for your son.
