Caoimhe is one of my favorite names! Do you want another Gaelic name or do you want a variety?

Caoimhe Maeve would be nice! Or Caoimhe Grace

first comment, google it, it’s actually pronounced Kee-va

It’s the Irish Gaelic spelling. That was a rude comment by the first poster, You could just ask the question, you shouldn’t just attack something.

I like the name. It depends on where you live though, if you’re in the US, people will definitely prn. wrong all the time.

Caoimhe Blaire
Caoimhe Maeve
Caoimhe Renee
Caoimhe Taryn
Caoimhe Bevin
Caoimhe Joanne
Caoimhe Rose
Caoimhe Pearl

I do like using the traditional Gaelic spelling, however, just know that it will never be pronounced correctly without explanation.

I would never have guessed that it would be kee-va. I thought it was like Naomi or Coy-me. Keeva like this wouldn’t be bad.

I love it!
Caoimhe Rae would be nice!

I understand that the name has a beautiful meaning and that its a traditional Gaelic name, but unless you live somewhere where Gaelic names are the norm, why would you put your child through it? I guarantee you that 99% or more of the general public will not know how to pronounce it if you live in America or somewhere where Gaelic names are not the norm.... Don’t children (and even adults) have enough problems to deal with without constantly having to pronounce and spell their name to EVERYONE?

My parents gave my name a Gaelic spelling, and believe me, it’s been a giant pain in the butt.

Siobahn-I’ll let you all Google it, if you want.

I think you can honor your heritage but use a more "American," spelling.

The thing about these names is the spellings are so off... I know I have seen this several times before, but still can’t remember how to pronounce it, and every time I read it I say ky-ome-hee. (same with Siobahn, I know there is a familiar pronunciation but I can never remember what it is, I always just read seyo-ban).

Caoimhe is my name.... And I love the Scottish pronunciation, "Koy-vah". Spelling is part of the inheritance: Old Irish, a language adopted when Celts arrived in Ireland. Now we know that Scots are genetically Celtic and the Irish Celtic by acculturation... Originally of the Basque region). Also much of Scandinavia have a Scottish maternal blood line.
