Anneliese vs. Elsa/Elsbeth vs. Gretchen

My husband and I are expecting our first child!! Wooo hooo!!! But we don’t know if we will be having a boy or a girl for another 3 weeks. We both have very German last names and German roots and are exploring the possibility of naming our child something to reflect his/her German heritage. Abstolutely NO Bertha, Gertrude, Helga or Ursula. I can’t see those on a sweet little baby. Or Bruno, Fabian, Gunther, Hermann, Ulrich... We are considering Anneliese, Elsa, Elsbeth, Gretchen, Ingrid, Johanna, Liselotte, Lisbeth, Petra, Bram, Andreas, Dieter, Dirk, Erich, Friedrich, Fritz, Hans, Wilhelm and Jan. Is this just asking for cruelty to our child??

If we were to spell it "Eric" would that come off as German?? Or is that Scandinavian? Or American?

Anneliese for sure. I don’t care for Gretchen at all. Elsa is ok. Amelia or Ada would be other options but I love Annaliese!

For boys:
Coen
Kiefer
