I love the name Homer. Its on my short list too. Even though I have watched The Simpsons since the 80s, I still think of Homer as the Odyssey and secondly as a baseball nn.
Simpson would only be my 3rd association.

The Simpsons is just so popular, and Homer Simpson is such a bad role model.

Yeah, Homer Simpson has ruined a lovely name!!! I loved Homer for the Greek philosopher and my favourite novel, The Cider House Rules uses Homer as the central protagonists name.
