It is definitely a girl’s name. It is a very weak, feminine name for a boy, but good for a girl (nickname Em or Emmy).

It has son at the end of it so its obviously for a boy but some uneducated bimbos are saying its for a girl.

IT’s for a boy. Please let the boys keep some names to themselves.

I think the 4th poster summed it up well. And anyway, no matter how many parents give this name to a girl, it will still be a boys namem just like Tyler, Blake, Tatum, etc.

Umm excuse me to the person that said it ends in SON so that makes it a boys name have you never heard of Addison. thanks for the not so great grammar lesson!

All the names that end in -son are traditionally and historically boy names. They mean "son of ____.’ For example:
Madison- "son of Maud"
Addison- "son of Adam"
Emerson- "son of Emery"

I think Allison is the only name that ends in -son that has always been used for girls. That’s because it’s a version of Alice. I could be wrong.

I really dislike Emerson on a girl (I don’t really like it for a boy either). It’s just not at all feminine.

It’s more logical for boys, but it’s usually a girl’s name now.
