Elle vs. if it’s a girl?

Hello, I’ve done a couple of polls trying to figure out a name that I love that will work with our last name. Because of our last name, we have to be very careful what we name our child. It’s been disheartening, because most of our favorite names won’t work. Example: Rider can sound like "ride her," which would not be good with our last name! We came up with this idea: If it’s a girl, how about Elle? My maiden name was Ellerton, so that could be kind of neat. What do you think?

I like that. Elle sounds slightly sophisticated and French, but still cute for a little girl.

Sorry, but it sounds like you are putting the Spanish word "El" in front of the already infamous word Dickie. That could be devastating to your little princess when she gets into Spanish class. I wouldn’t use it. Ella might work, but I am not even sure of that one. Sorry!

Oh sorry about the name difficulty! What about Elianna? Her nickname could be Elle or Elli.
