Why not? Wolfgang is a very old name (just think Mozart) and just because it isn’t common doesn’t mean it is strange/weird. If you love it go for it.

Wolfie was the common nickname back in the day. I like it. I am using Zoltan (Zolee) which is common enough in Europe but not as much in the states. Wolfgang is a good name.
