I don’t want to sound harsh. I’m just trying to be honest.
If you like the name James, you just need to choose the name James. Unless you plan on living in Italy, it’s asking for years of teasing, mispronunciation, misspelling, and a lot of frustration.
I do love the name James, so if you like that name, I vote James!

Hi there, I think this is really one of those names that just doesn’t work outside of Italy, do you have any Italian connection? Maybe you could get away with it then but my own opinion is it is a little pretentious. The mere fact you had to tell us how it was pronounced says alot, your son will have a lifetime of people ringing up/teachers calling register saying is Jea..Jo-coma..Jiac..erm...
Having said that, your baby, your choice so if you think you can make it work for you then Giacomo it is!

I don’t think the name will work well anywhere but Italy. If he likes the name James then why don’t you use that?
Since it’s prn Jock-a-mo, maybe Jack or Jackson?

I have always loved this name, but please don’t name him this if your last name is not italian! that would just sound too weird. and i know many people with more italian names then that and nobody makes fun of them.

You should look at a sight that has Itallian names and see if there is another one that means james or jim or jamison. Maybe that would help. I do not know what your last name is but I always liked Giovanni for a male Italian name.
