Well, Jake is one of our names. Neither of us want Jacob, so if we go w/ this name, it will definitely be just Jake. Some people have the opnion it NEEDS to be a "full name" like Jacob instead of Jake, but we don’t like Jacob- we like Jake. We are probably going w/ Alexander for middle, so it will balance the short first name. I say Jake! :)

Compromise. Jacob nn Jake. I don’t feel that there has to always be a "full" name, but in this case I think you should go with the full name. Jacob is too common and traditional to go with just Jake IMO. Jake is known as a nn.
Previous Poster, Jake Alexander does sound great, though! That was a good way to balance the name out. ;)

Jake is fine for the first name. It doesn’t need to be Jacob for a "fuller" name. I really like the name Jake.

I also say you should compromise. If he doesn’t hate Jacob then you should get to use it and he can mostly go by Jake. Perfect!!

I don’t see why you can’t use Jacob and call him Jake, most Jake’s real names are Jacob. And I do like a full name like Jacob. I think it looks more professional on a resume, in the workplace, or even on the wedding invitation. His friends can call him Jake. :)

Name him Jacob and your husband can call him Jake.
Problem solved.
Wait...
In the poll you said you love Jacob?
Inconsistent much?

Spell it Jakob maybe, I think for the kid’s best interest name him Jakob for professional reasons and resume purposes, he can go by Jake the rest of his life if you all desire that, I mean how many Michael’s and David’s do you know who go by Mike & Dave

I’m having a third boy. I am in the same situation as you. Jacob or Jake? We are most likely going with the name Jake because that is what we plan on calling him.
