Addison Claire vs. Eliot Christina vs. Other?

Hi, My name is Samantha and my husband and I have been agonizing over what to name our daughter for the past seven months. We came across the name Addison and fell in love with it, until I was reading a poll on this website and came across the name Eliot for a girl, which I also have fallen in love with! We would like to name her something unisex sounding, with a more feminine middle name. Votes and other suggestions would be GREAT! Thanks everyone!

Oh please not Addison Montgomery.... that’s like the TV show Private Practice on ABC, that’s is the main person’s name.... Other girl unisex names...

Addison may be a good name but I urge you not to use it because of your last name, like the first poster said, Addison Montgomery is the main character on a TV called Private Practice.... sorry that would just be wrong and weird...

Never heard of the show. But I would definitely choose Addison over Eliot because while Addison can pass as a girl’s name, Eliot most definitely cannot.

The show is very very popular with a lot of people, at least where I live, so I would really not go with Addison Montgomery... if you ever heard of the show Grey’s Anatomy, she is the exwife of Derek Shepherd, aka McDreamy, and Private Practice is a spinoff of it... wdyt of...

I think Addison Claire Montgomery sounds lovely and I don’t think you should base your choice (or throw away a choice) because a TV show. I know a boy named Derek Morgan (a character on Criminal Minds), a boy named Jacob Black (a character in Twilight) and a girl named Olivia Benson (a character on Law and Order SVU). Almost no one thinks of the characters when they meet the kids. And in a few years when the show is off air, no one will think of the connection.

I want to thank everyone for their help and suggestions! It has been great to hear opinions other than my family! I am aware that Addison Montgomery is a character on a tv show, but my maiden name is Jones, so I’ve spent most of my life with the name Samantha Jones, like the character on Sex and the City. It hasn’t bothered me one bit, and I’m sure Addison won’t mind either. That’s right, we have finally picked a name! We have decided on Addison Claire Montgomery. Thanks again everyone!
