Danyelle vs. Melanie
Danyelle we just came up with because we want to honor my husbands grandmother by giving our daughter her initials. DLS... but we also love Melanie.
The Top Baby Name is...

Why not spell Danielle/Daniele correctly? I still prefer Melanie, just wondering.

I have a cousin and nephew named Danial... Just wanted to make it a little different so the names didn’t get mixed up. I like the spelling of Danielle also. Do you think it will matter?

Here’s the thing with different spellings. Every time you say your child’s name you have to spell it. So practice saying it out loud like this: "her name is Danyelle. D-A-N-Y-E-L-L-E." People will also assume that if it’s not the normal spelling it’s because it’s said different. So she will get a lot of ’Danny-elle" pronunciations. And if there is ever a time you or she is not there to spell it for people, she will always have to deal with it being misspelled. Which sometimes isn’t a big deal. But it is on a birthday cake! And she’ll have to settle for the pencils that say "great friend" instead of her name because the weird spellings are never printed.
Just my 2 cents.

i grew up with a Danyelle and no one ever had her name mispronounced. It is a chance you’re taking with any different spelling though

Misspelling a name like that makes it seem like you’re trying way too hard to be different. Also, I know I shouldn’t assume anything but when I meet someone with a misspelled name I assume that they and their parents aren’t very bright.
