Delia is the better spelling. When I see the "h" on the end I think it is more likely to be pronounced as lee-uh.

I might add that when I first read the name I read it as Delilah, so maybe you should alter the spelling a little. Here are some suggestions:

Dealia
Dealya
Deelia
Deelya

I don’t think any of these is kind to do to a child!

I like the way Delia sounds and looks. Plus, its meaning is pretty impressive. What’s your reasoning for thinking its unkind to name a child Delia? Just curious...

The name is of Greek origin, meaning "from Delos", and is believed to be a reference to the goddess Artemis: Moon Goddess of Light
And Protector of the Vulnerable, from Greek Mythology, as she—a along with her twin brother, Apollo, was born on the sacred Mediterranean island of Delos.
It may also have been derived from the name Cordelia (from the Latin word "cor ", meaning "heart"). Literary usage of the name in "King Lear", Shakespeare portrays Cordelia as a lovable, virtuous woman of rare honesty.
It may also have been derived from the name Adelia (Old German for "noble or noble kind").

I agree that the spelling might throw people off. I have to admit that I wasn’t sure how to say the name, so I appreciated the pronunciation key. I think it would often be pronounced Delilah, which is a pretty name, as well.

Oh my gosh, this is awesome. Delia is my name, and everyone I’ve met, after they figure out how to pronounce it, find it pretty and unique. It’s a great name, and the origin is awesome, especially if you’re a grekophile. Why do you think it’s mean? But the Delilah thing is a bit of a problem. :)
