I’m not trying to be rude, but is Zulilly even a real name?

isn’t it an ad for a company that makes medications or something, i’m pretty sure it is, i would really about Zoely (Zoe-elli) or Zoeli (Zoe-lee)

i am really sick of fake polls, zulily is a brand name of a clothing store for children’s fashion
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 09:06 AM | report
I know lots of people will hate it, but everytime the add pops up on the site, I think its cute. No different than naming your child Chanel or several other names that are clothing brands/company names-like Macy...
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 09:07 AM | report
Come on, Zulily is an ad that is always on this site...I knew it was only a matter of time......
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 09:09 AM | report
Macy and Chanel are actual REAL names though. And I’m pretty sure that the average person who names their daughter Macy isn’t naming them after the store.

I don’t think this is a fake poll... But really people, there are other kids named after cpmpany names, brands, cars, food....what’s the big deal with Zulily? In ny preggo hormones, I thought it was cute, too.

I know lots of people will hate my baby’s name me there is no about using it for a middle name or a Z first name like Zara and Lily as the middle
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 09:11 AM | report
they did state in their previous poll that they got the name from an ad they saw on this site
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 09:13 AM | report
Well, there are plent of people who DO name their kids after brands..... I have heard Chanel, Armani, Claiborne, and yes, even a Hilfiger....
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 09:13 AM | report
I promise you this is pregnancy hormones. If you heard that name outloud on the street on an adult, and not next to a picture of an adorable baby you would think it’s weird. At least make it a middle name, Charlotte Zulily.

Just because there are people who names their kids after a brand doesn’t make it a good idea. They’ll have to carry that ridiculous name with them for the rest of their lives.

Target? WalMart? Sears?
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 09:24 AM | report
Oh come on! Its not that bad! I have taught a Nestle after the chocolate, Aquinetta after the hairspray, and twins named Kimberly and Clark after the diaper product name. This name is no worse than some of the crazy celebrity names out there that people choose to name their children, and I think its pretty, unlike masculine names on girls. She could always go by Lily or Zuli- this is no more ridiculous to me than half the made up names on this site.
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 09:28 AM | report
well Zuli I actually like. That’s a good one. but’s just weird.
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 09:29 AM | report
She is not naming her child after this brand, but likes the name- people may not name their kids after cars- SiennaN Camry, Mercedes- but they are brands. They may not name them after labels- Chanel, Armani, Hugo, but they are labels. They may not name kids after store names- Ross, Marhsall, Ross Simons, Macy, Max- but ll these things can remind people of the brands. So what? Zulily is a made up word- half the names out there are made up- my name- Taryn- made up and I love it. So what that its a clothing store? Bailey Boys is a high end line of clothing, but no one gasps when people name a child Bailey. Get over it people.

How do you say it? Is it pn ZOO-LILY ?

I’m mad! I was considering naming my daughter Graceyn and got eaten alive on these polls. And Zulily which is ugly/ridiculous gets much nicer comments?? Come on!!
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 09:41 AM | report
Zulily, hmmm.. I like it actually! I like that your bein bold! I ctually think it’s some what cute..!

Graceyn poller- I defended your name, too. I love Graceyn, and Zulily is fine to me as well.
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 09:47 AM | report
Once again people are nice to a made up name yet they jump all over someone who wants to name their daughter a unisex name! Which is an actual name! Ughh! Zulilly? Cmon!!
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 09:49 AM | report
I have to agree with the pp and the one who was naming her daughter Graceyn. Graceyn is a nice, girly name and Zulily is very "different," to put it midly. Zulily is causing problems, as I am sure everyone knew it would. Grace is a girls’ name, therefore, imo, Graceyn is fine. Lets move on.

Gosh the pollers who are complaining about people ridiculing their names are doing the same thing. I think the name is not my taste, but there are tons of name that are not my taste on this site, and I am respectful to everyone.

Taryn is not made it??
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 09:59 AM | report
I love Taryn, pp. I new a little girl named Taryn.
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 10:03 AM | report
Yes,Taryn was made by Tyrone Powers, an actor famous in the sixties/ seventies. He combined his name with his wife/ partner to make Taryn.

Technically ALL names are made up. Its not like God gave Adam and Eve a book of names.
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 10:07 AM | report
Well that was a long time ago... Every name was made up at one time or another...
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 10:07 AM | report
I agree that people need to be nicer about boys names on girls- a ridiculous argument to me- who cares.... But I think Zulily is actually cute.
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 10:11 AM | report
No offense, but I think Zulily would be cute for a pet not a human.
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 10:14 AM | report
Haha, whether or not you think Zulily is cute, can you imagine being a grown woman with that name? Ridiculous.
posted by mm :: Jul 08, 2010 10:16 AM | report
If I got introduced to an infant named Zulily I think I’d die laughing. Its hilarious and ridiculous at the same time. I hope its pregnancy hormones and you snap out of this! What a joke of a name! Why not name her Charmin?! BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I swear, some people are just born without good sense!
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 10:26 AM | report
How about Zoe Lily, nn Zulily...
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 10:27 AM | report
Can I imagine it on a grown woman? Sure! There will be grown women named Harlow, Azalea, Elliot,Mattycyen, Daisy, Charlotte, Sawyer, Crimson, Bonnie, Jordyn, Kamryn, and Graceyn- having different names makes us all special and unique- it makes the world an interesting place. So glad not everyone in the world is named Mary or Alice- bring on Graceyn and Zulily!

So, I want to name my daughter Jordan and it is "horrible and ugly" but Zulily is pretty?
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 10:32 AM | report
Ok, I love the name Graceyn! and Taryn! So I hope you guys dont feel bad because those are beautiful names....
posted by ChristinaD :: Jul 08, 2010 10:33 AM | report
Gracyn, Jordan, Taryn, Ryanne, etc are fine IMO but Zulily has GOT to be a joke to get a rise out of everyone! Seriously! I’d be embarrased to tell anyone my childs name!!
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 10:37 AM | report
Jordan is lovely- don’t let the masculine police sway you. There are tons of people on this site who do not like any remotely sounding boys name on a girl. Jordan, Teagan, Bailey- all adorable on girls.
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 10:37 AM | report
Whats with the BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! How young are you?
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 10:49 AM | report
I think Zulily is silly sounding, but it’s your baby. And you obviously wanted some sort of comment or you would never have posted that you’d decided on this name.
To the pp who said that Mercedes is a brand name, well, yeah it is, but it was a name given to girls in Spanish-speaking families for generations before it was ever a car. I also got a chuckle out of the twins named Kimberly and Clark, after the diaper company. When I was a kid, Kimberly-Clark made sanitary napkins.

I am almost thirty and I use Bahahahahaha That wasn’t my post but just thought I would share. I find the name to be odd and would never use it....EVER because it does sound like a pet name. It would be a cute nickname for a little girl but not a good given name in my opinion. I also happen to LOVE boy names on girls and unisex names and agree that they catch a lot of flack from people and happen to think that a girl named Sawyer is much more tastefully named than one named Zulily. lol
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 11:52 AM | report
I posted about Mercedes- I actually love the name, and realize how lovely it is in Latina culture- I get so mad when I hear people call it a stripper name. I know- Kimberly Clark is hilarious. The mom was just desperate for a name, and that was the brand name of the hospital diapers.... And for the life of me do not understand how a name like Graceyn is viewed as horrible!
posted by guest :: Jul 08, 2010 12:16 PM | report
Okay, you all are being ridiculous. Seriously, it’s an opinion. It may not be mine, but just because I don’t like the name Mary doesn’t mean I’m bad to someone that does. You’re all acting ridiculous. Let her name her child what she wants. It’s her decision
