It’s okay, I guess, although not my favorite. If you want the name because of the nn Millie, Camille, Camilla and Camellia are other options.

lol - just to reassure you, no one, except for that poster, would ever wonder whether it’s a girl name or a boy name.

pp - it’s a girl name ;)

This is for a girl. I really do like the nn being Millie but I also really like "older" names...and I really want it to start with an "M"....

It’s still reminding me of Maleficent

Yuck! But, it doesn’t matter that I hate it because its not my baby. Have you thought of your poor baby? Imagine a two year old having to say Millicent when people ask what her name is. So sad! Plus it reminds me of Melificent(sp?) From Sleeping Beauty.

so question, if this poster is getting so much slack about Millicent then did your cousin get a lot of it too cuz of Milbrey? just curious. cuz then it just shows you should do what makes you happy and not what everyone else thinks ;)

Ok, are you stuck on the name? Would you like suggestions on first and middle names or JUST middles?

I like that people are honest. Even when they are brutal. Nobody will tell you the honest to God truth to your face. I’d rather hear all the bad stuff before the baby is born so I know.

Umm no???? wth? She gets soo many compliments on her name.
posted by Talia :: Jul 23, 2010 12:47 PM | report
Agree with comment above me Justine is a unique middle name and not a common middle name like Nicole, Marie, Grace, Rose, or Anne. Go with unique yet flowing with Millicent. Millicent Justine gets my top vote thus far. I’d throw in Millicent Breena as another favorite.

She gets compliments on Milbrey? Interesting.

I personally would use a plain jane middle name with such a different first name. Millicent Breanne was a nice suggestion.

Millicent Breena is a good one or Millicent Breanne or Millicent Breanna

I like Millie but not Millicent. I too thought of the Sleeping beauty character. My grandmother has several friends named Millie but I never asked what it was short for. So I looked it up and this what I found... Millie/Milly short for
Amelia
Camilla
Emilie/Emily
Melissa
Mildred
Millicent

Millette Alexander was an actress. I think Millette nn Millie is very cute. It would age well, be uncommon and not remind anyone of Sleeping Beauty :)

Millicent is cute in that "old lady" way that has become rather chic as of late.

I just have to jump in here regarding the name Milbrey. It is actually a very old name with similar Old English origins to both Mildred and Millicent. Milbrey is my goddaughter, and it is a family name that has been passed down through the generations. And sorry, Talia (who is my daughter btw), but Milbrey has garnered a few negative comments. Luckily, those people were considerate enough to not make them to her face. I personally love the name as do plenty of others, but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

I remember growing as a teenager wanting my daughter if I had one to be named Emma. It was my grandmothers name whom I was most partial to. Everyone I spoke about the subject matter with hated the name; until of course Rachel off Friends named her baby Emma. Needless to say I have two daughters now and the first girl\’s name is Emma. My point is this ladies; just because it is not a trend name does not mean it is not a good name. By the way I am trying to conceive a third and if it is another girl I would love for the name to be Millicent. This name is classy, elegant, and graceful.

My name is Millicent Lauren and though I do have to help people spell it, everyone I\’ve ever Introduced myself to has commented on how much they love my name. So I say go for it! (I love it too. Had trouble finding a name for my daughter I loved as much as my own.)

I was given the names Millicent Minnie, I have hated them all my life! My Mother wanted me to have a very English name and then my Grandmother’s name. I don’t remember what I told people when they asked me what my name was but it very quickly became Millie. If I happened to tell anyone about my second name I stood the risk of becoming Minnie Mouse, so I avoided people as best I could. I have lived in Israel for years and when I came here my name changed to Malka which means Queen which I love, if people ask what Millicnet means I tell them "a hundred thousand" (French) a hundred thousand what? anything you want, I avoid Millicent as much as I can.

I know this is late (very late) but my name is Millicent Amy and, today, i am very greatful to have such an elegant name. Sure it sounds like Maleficent, but that just makes it an even cooler reason to have your name as Millicent. Btw this is just for all the people making opinions that were off topic. and Millicent is actually Barbies middle name

I love the name Millicent. It is old fashioned but vintage sounding. I would use a one or two syllable middle name for a three syllable first name. IIf you use a two syllable middle name, try one with stress on the second syllable (e.g., Millicent Elin, Millicent Marie, Millicent Nicole) Millicent Jane, Millicent Anne, Millicent Rose all sound lovely

My name is Millicent. And Marie is my middle name. I have only met one other person my whole life with the same name. And it was a little girl who lived in Niagara falls. I get compliments on my name all the time...just don’t call me melissa. I am 40 years old. I grew up with a peculiar name and became a very peculiar person. I love my name and love it being different. Makes me who I am...
