Isidora vs. Isadora

I like the name Isadora, but I’d also like to have named my child after a dear friend named Sidney. Is Isidora an acceptable spelling, or should I stick with Isadora? Thanks, Jaclyn

I prefer Isadora... have you already considered using Sidney as a middle name?

Well I’ve thought that over, but our surname being Darcey I’ve thought that the middle name/surname combination Sidney Darcey doesn’t have great flow. What are your thoughts?

Well Isidora means gift from Isis so I think that the isadora spelling is very acceptable

Isadora Sidney Darcey. The first and last flow and that is what she will go by most of the time and sometimes the flow isn’t as important when you are honoring a loved one. I like it. Or, what is your friends mn?

Sidney Isadora Darcey maybe?

I do know that both Isadora and Isidora are true names, I just know that the "a" spelling is more widely known or acceptable.
Sidney’s middle name is Lee, but for personal reasons I can’t use Lee, due to bad associations with someone with the first name Lee.
And I’m not sure I’d like to use Sidney as the first name. What a dilemma I’ve put myself in!

Go with Isadora Sidney Darcey. Not the most ’flowy’ name, but a good strong name with good intent. You could always make it even longer and add another mn.
Isadora Sidney Ann Darcey
Isadora Sidney Rose Darcey
Isadora Sidney Kate Darcey
Isadora Sidney Rae Darcey
Isadora Sidney Kaye Darcey
Isadora Sidney Belle Darcey
I like Isadora Sidney Ann Darcey the best, you could also do Isadora Sidney-Ann Darcey. If this is your first kid you could make the two mn names a fun thing for future kids, too (and easier to include more loved ones in your kids names)
