should we use the name? vs. yes vs. no

So the name I love for my son turns out to be a family name with a tragic story - my grandmother’s father died of tuberculosis when he was only 26, and this was his name. He died when his wife was pregnant with my grandmother, and she had never met her dad, but was raised by her paternal grandmother when her mom freaked out about raising the baby by herself and abandoned her. I didn’t even know his name until she told me that the name we were thinking of "had a tragic fate". Do you think it should matter in our naming choice?

so it’s your kid’s great, great grandparent’s name? I really wouldn’t worry about that. Man, if I dug back that far who know what kind of family history I would have and what names would be ruined. Just go with the name you love. Besides, he was sick and died, it’s not like he was a serial killer or anything awful right? It’s sad, but not embarrassing or disgraceful.
Go for it.

i think that, whatever name you have picked out, you should keep. Just because that name had a Tragic fate" doesnt mean you shouldnt name your child that. If you love the name, i think you should stick with it =)
