Adoption vs. name problem

Hi, 4 years ago we adopted our first daughter from China when she was 3 months. Her name was Mae Lin. We wanted to keep her name as mn and our 4 year old is now Gracie Mae. Now we are adopting another girl from China. The problem is that her name is Grace. We want to keep her name but it is way too similar. What would you do? Thank you for any help!

u can always change her name to be her MN like her sister, this way they both will have this in common...u can always change her name, I am sure she’ll be happy with all the love she’ll have. In the bible, sometimes God changes peoples names...and the new name sometimes has a wonderful meaning :)

We just don’t like the fact that we’ll have a Gracie Mae and ___ Grace. It sounds so weird and it’s like we love the name Grace so much that we’ll use every kind of it.

For instance:
This is Gracie Mae & Olivia Grace

how old is the little one? if she’s younger than about 2 i don’t think it will make much difference to her, she might be a little confused that when you say Gracie you’re not talking to her and that you’re calling her by another name, but she’ll soon get used to it, it’s amazing how quickly they adapt, i think it would be a good idea to have Grace as a middle name if you don’t mind them being so close, either that or give her a completely new name, i’m sure she’ll understand when she’s older

Right now she’s 4 months but the paper’s are just final now so it’ll take some time before the wonder will be back here.
I like that we should just give her a completely new name but I also want some of her name with her to have a memory like Gracie does.
We should might give her a completely new name because Grace and Gracie are too close.. It’s hard ’cause we have pros and cons

I wouldn’t give her the name to be honest. I’d find another name that i love and give her that instead. In my opinion it would cause too much confusion and a child’s name should have its own individuality next to its siblings.

if l were in your position, I’d definitely translate the word "grace" to chinese and give her that as a mn... like this she will have the chinese mn like her sister and the meaning wont change but its not too similar to gracie anymore.
good luck :)

e.g. one translation of "grace" in chinese is "YouYa" , but there are various translations, check it out...

What about giving her a name that "means" grace?

Hannah
Kiley
Nancy

Hannah Grace is cute and so is Kiley Grace. I know the meanings would be grace grace and graceful grace but I dont think that matters.
