Chloe Beth vs. Susan Janelle vs. Susan Elizabeth
HELP! When I got pregnant with my first child, DH and I agreed that I name the girls and he name the boys (HIS idea). She was a girl so I named her Courtney Brooke. I had planned to name this baby Chloe Beth and DH was fine with it until we found out that we were having another girl. NOW he says that since I named our first child, that he should name this one. He wants Susan Janelle. (I think it is outdated), Should I stick by my guns and name her Chloe, let him name her, or compromise with Susan Elizabeth. (if he will). I really want Chloe Beth.
The Top Baby Name is...
Chloe Beth
Susan Janelle
Susan Elizabeth

I’d usually say compromise, but I really think your name is much better. Chloe is beautiful and contemporary, yet timeless. It will grow with her nicely. If you do want to compromise, I’d at least go with Chloe Susanna or Chloe Janelle. That would give her a nice sounding name as well. I’m not sure Susan is ready to make a comeback yet. I just can’t see it on a young girl.

I like the idea of Chloe Susanna. I always say pick a name you agree on (which can be hard.) Maybe you should come up with something totally different together, not Susan.

I voted for Susan, but with reservations. It doesn’t go too well with Courtney...but Chloe goes too well in that they start and end with the same sounds, and at the same time not well enough in that Courtney is a spunky name while Chloe is sweet. (Chloe and Susanna would have matched in sweetness but it’s too late for that.)
Could you look for a different, spunky name that’ll go better with Courtney?

What name do you suggest that is spunky? Susan is NOT a family name, he just likes it and wants to call her Susie. He doesn’t like "Susannah" or Suzanne.

Spunky names (not all of which I like):
Piper
Poppy
Peyton
Roxanne (spunkier nn Roxy)
Alexis (spunkier nn Alex)
Samantha (spunkier nn Sam)
Nicole
Anyone else have spunky, energetic, teenage-girl-with-pompoms names?

Chloe is really way to common. Susan is adorable. Sue is a great nickname. I have a friend that goes by Little Sue.

Zoe is sort of like Susie, rhymes with Chloe and is spunky.

Also Lucy is a little spunky and similar enough to both of your choices. It could always be short for Lucia or something if you prefer a more formal option, but it works fine on its own. If you’re not doing Chloe, I’d definitely try to compromise because Susan just doesn’t work well these days.
