Isabeau Clarissa vs. use vs. dont

My husband and I both love the name Isabelle, but we will not name her that because of its popularity. We found the name Isabeau, we would call her Isa. What do you think of this name? Thank you Claire and Ryan

I don’t think I’d use that -- it looks like someone trying to come up with a male version of Isabelle. (In French, beau is the masculine form of beautiful and belle is the feminine form.) It looks kind of cheezy to me.

If you say you want to name her Isabeau, and then say you will call her Isa, you obviously aren’t too fond of the name Isabeau, if you would never use it.
If you love the name Isabelle, just use it, even if it is popular.

How about Isla (EYE-luh)? It’s not popular in the US. It means Island, and it’s pronounced like it too. Isla Soleil "Island Sun" is on my list.

Stick with what you love, don’t worry about the popularity of the name. If you want to make it a little different, play around with the spellings. I like the spelling Isabel.

Sorry I don’t like it...Just think of all the comments from the other kids in school with a name like Isabeau...Kids can be mean!

Yeah, it looks weird. If you want to use Isa, just name her Isa and keep it simple. Isa is so common anyway.
