Richard (Richie) Nicholas vs. Like vs. Dislike

**IF** we decide to name our son after my husband (Rich), how do you think this sounds? My husband is already a junior and I did not want a III, so we would change the middle name. Richard as a full name is not my most favorite name, but I like the idea of naming him after my husband and FIL and I love the nn Richie.

I think Richard with nickname Richie is cute. Nicholas Richard sounds really good too, if you just can’t get past the Richard thing, but I think it’s a fine name, and nice to carry on the family tradition. He can always be Rich or Rick if he wants when he’s older. Expect a lot of dick teasing though. My friend is Richard and gets that a LOT.

I have a friend Richard who gets a lot of dick teasing as well. Personally, your son deserves his own name, and I think Nicholas Richard would be great! gl

We always wanted Nicholas Richard, actually. BUT, our 1 year old nephew is Nicholas and we would rather not duplicate. Thanks for the responses!

...And for what its worth, my husband was never bothered by the "Dick" thing. :)

my husband is named Richard and was never teased. His whole family calls him Richie. Richard is a very classic, strong and professional name. It will grow well.
Best Wishes.
