Should I change vs. my name?

Hey, I’m Tillie and I’m 13 years old(nearly 14) and I was just wondering if somebody could help me. I am considering changing my name as I don’t think that people will take me seriously as an adult with the name Tillie. What do you think I should do, change my name or keep it. If you think that I should change it then can you please leave some suggestions and the name Tillie will stay but as my middle name along with my current middle name Bridget. Thanks for your time, Tillie

Is Tillie short for anything? Matilda is all I can think of, and that’s a nice name.
I know a lot of people who use their middle names as adults (even through high school) because they’re more ’normal’. I like Bridget. But I also think Tillie is ok on an adult. Can you imagine if you were named Hunter or Precious or Truely or Mykelti or something bizarre like that?

I think its all up to your opinions, I don\’t think it would age well, but think about it for a while, and once you do have the name if you do decide to change your name. Write it out some, etc, put it in some sentences.

I understand I\’m in the same boat but my name just doesn\’t suit me.

No Tillie isn’t short for anything, do you have any suggestions as to what I could change it to(other than Matilda)?

I think Tillie is a fine name for an adult, but if it bothers you I would just ask people to call you Bridgette. Lots of people go by their middle names, and it saves you the trouble of going through the legal hassel of name-changing.

It’s not like you have an outrageous name. I will tell you this, at 13 I didn’t like my name because it was so common. I was in school with 4 more Kristen’s just in my class and I wished I could change my name to something less common. But I didn’t and now I’m happy....your name is who you are and Tillie is a nice name. If your completely unhappy I’d talk to your family about it. Changing your name is a really big thing! Your would have to tell EVERYONE you’ve ever known your whole life.."I’m not Tillie anymore, I’m -----." Seems like more of a hassle then anything to me. But like I said talk to your family, they would know you better than a bunch of strangers on here...Good Luck!!

Why not use your middle name, Bridget. That’s beautiful, then you won’t have to change anything (which is expensive). Just start introducing yourself as Bridget. I knew a girl named Barbara Ellen. She grew up going by Ellen, but in college everyone called her Barb...no problems.
