Kingsley vs. LIKE IT! vs. HATE IT!

I posted on this last night and got a few responses, but I’m wanting some more feedback. I stumbled across the name Kingsley lastnight and want to know if you like it for our son’s name? I’m afraid the "ley" might look too girly. What do you think? I also like the name Kingston. All oppinions and options are welcome b/c this name isn’t super special to me!

I really dislike it, but not because the "ley" looks girly, to be honest I feel like it should be a pet’s name. I much prefer Kingston.

I just don’t understand the appeal of it. Why would you want to name your kid King----? He’s not a king, and its quite likely he never will be. I’m not saying that names define what a person will do, but it just doesn’t make sense to me I guess.

I say go with Kingston, Kingsley looks to close to Kinsley/Kinley which is a trendy girls name (which I dont like either)

Just stirring the pot a little bit because I really want to know what people think....

What makes Kingston so much better? Kingsley is just different by 3 letters.

Do you think that the popularity and familiarity of the name make you like Kingston more?

Would you even like Kingston if you had never really heard it before?

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP! :)

To me, familiarty makes a big difference. I’m not too sure about popularity though.
I think I would not like Kingston if I had never heard it before. The name has to grow on me.

I always connect Kingsley to the Harry Potter character. Not that this is a bad thing -- he’s fairly brilliant and completely awesome.

I like Kingsley. It’s unique but not too out-there.

i like Kingsley a lot, it’s very distinguished and regal sounding. i don’t think it looks too girly, it’s similar to Kinsley and Kinley yes, but i think people will definintely recognise Kingsley as a boy name, it’s unique but not unheard of, and it has the word king in it, which makes it very masculine. i like Kingston too, but i prefer Kingsley because it’s that little bit more unique.

My 16 year old nephew is named Ryan Kingsley. His parents loved Kingsley and always called their future child that, but then towards the end of the pregnancy, they worried it was too strange and gave it as his middle name.
I think it is a neat name. Very English. Her other boys also got more common first names and less common English middle names: Scott Chandler and Tyler Maxwell.
