Yes, I would love to. I love Eli as a nn and to say it like Elijah but spell it Elisha. :)

I have encountered kids named Elisha pn Elijah, but as a substitute teacher, I always end up offending them because during role call I assume that it is a girl and pn it Elisha (El-ee-sha). If you like the sound of Elijah, I would go with that spelling.

I agree with pp. Before I read the whole heading, I pn it El-ee-sha and thought it was for a girl. Cute idea but could get really confusing. I would spell the traditional way, Elijah.

It is pronounced both E-ly-shuh or El-ee-shuh depending on gender.

Just spell it Elijah. Problem solved. He’ll always have to correct people when they say his name. And people will always say uh-LEE-shuh, assuming it’s a girl.

Elisha is definitely a boy’s name - originally a prophet in the old testament. It is pn Ee-lie-shuh. Beautiful.

I like Elisha on a boy said like Elijah. ELijah is nice but I don’t want something as common and I think Elisha sounds better anyway. Thanks for the pronounciation!

I say it el-lee-shuh and that’s how others I know pronounce it. I wouldn’t go with it if you will say it differently. It’s not a boy’s name though!

Um, don’t any of you read the Bible? Elisha was the successor of the prophet Elijah and it is pronounced "ee-lye-shuh" or "eh-lye-shah" if it is masculine. But you’re right now that so many male names have made the jump to female, it’s hard to assume one way or the other
