Making up new names vs. Great idea vs. unwise choice. why?
A lot of my friends are making up names for their child ( She named her baby girl Verorah). What are your feelings on making up names,is it unique or just an uneducated choice?

For the most part I just think its silly and the names dont even sound right. Children want to fit in and not be made fun of!
I’m definitely not into it. But if you reallyyy want to,I would stick with a regular name as much as possible, with a little twist.. I kind of like Verorah :)...But i definitely like Aurora better.

I love it especially if the names have meaning behind and your child doesnt have the same name as someone else.

I really don’t like made up names. I also don’t like common names. My girls are the only ones that we (or any of our family and friends) know with their names, but I didn’t make them up I just found names that weren’t common but were beautiful.

I think it depends on the name that was made up... like, if it sounds like a body part or someone/something from Star Trek I would say no.

Verorah is such a great example of why people shouldn’t make up names for their kids, it is just aweful. There are so many underused names out there that are beautiful and unique and can have meaning (heritage, relatives) and are not silly and made up but also not common.

There are so many uncommon names out there that you would make your child unique enough instead of making one up that does sound, as you say, uneducated.
