Two vs. Name vs. Lists!

Hello there Babynamegenie members! My husband, Mark, and I have a two year old son named Emmit Ryan. We are now adding a little girl to our family! We have two name lists for her [one with just E names and one with other names]. Which do you like [names will be in the comments]? Thank you for the help! The Carpenter Family

E names:

Eleanor (nickname Ellie)
Emma
Ella
Elena
Emmeline
Emily

Other names:

Lily
Farrah
Audrey
Aubrey
Sara
Alexandra
Vanessa
Jessica
Noelle
Molly

The reason we have a seperate E name list is because we aren’t sure if we want both of our children to have E names or not but those are ones we really like!

I like Elena, or Ella, also I really like Elynne/Elin, and think it would be pretty with Emmitt. I also like Audrey!

Eleanor or Aubrey

Emmit and Molly would be perfect! I suggest you don’t start with the "E" names... it may get complicated and limiting later if you end up having more than just 2 kids! GL!

I Love Eleanor, it has that traditional feel like Emmit and would make a great sibset Also, NN could be Ella, Ellie or even Nora. Sister-in laws named Nora, which is not as trendy as Ella or Ellie.

We know we are not having any more kids after her so we weren’t sure if it would still be too much. Also, I don’t think Elin is an attractive name at all. Though people have many times tried to persuade us to use it

sorry, it is my daughter’s name, and I think it is beautiful, and fit nicely!

I would eliminate Emmeline, Emily and Emma. They are WAY too close to Emmit. People might end up calling them both Em for short.

I like Emmit and Lily.
Lily Juliette
Lily Madeleine
Lily Charlotte
Lily Emmeline
Lily Eleanor
Lily Alexandra
Lily Vanessa
Lily Jessica
Lily Farrah
Lily Evelyn
Lily Erica

I very much like the pp idea of using Eleanor but going with Nora over Ellie. Emmit and Nora seems very nice indeed, to me.

We just know gobs of Ellas and Ellies. It’s really too trendy to have the same feel as Emmit. Emmeline and Emily seem much too cutesy and matchy-matchy. Evelyn isn’t bad, though Evie etc. is getting trendy. It’s a good style fit, though. Erica just seems totally different.

From the second list, I adore the name Audrey. It’s classy and pretty and a great match with Emmit. The others are all nice, too, but none really jumps out at me.

To summarize

Eleanor with the nn Nora.
If it has to be Ellie, then no.

Evelyn

Audrey

Molly is probably my honorable mention choice.

I love Vanessa. I also like Aubrey a lot. I also love Erica and Elena. However, I’d only go with an E name if it’s the name that you love above the others. Name themes can kind of be tacky, especially when it involves more than 2 children.

Like I have stated, we will not have more than 2 children. And the nickname Ellie stays. We do not like Nora at all.

If you are just having 2 kids then I think the E theme is fun and cute. :) It could get overwhelming and hard to find a name if you had a lot of kids.

I love Emmit and Eleanor nn Ellie together. They both have the classic feel and pair really well together. I agree with others that Emily, Emma, and Emmeline are too close to Emmit. GL!

I’m not sure why you had to get snotty, op.
You’re asking for help on an internet poll.
If you really expect people to read things with a fine tooth comb and not express opinions, I think you’re barking up the wrong tree.

I’d go with Evelyn or Audrey, unless you want her to forever be Ellie C. If you don’t care, then so be it.

A lot of your names are very popular and trendy at the moment. I agree, you have come across as a little rude.
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
Well I’m sorry if I came accross rude, but we didn’t ask for opinions on the nickname. I don’t see how saying we don’t like Nora at all was rude. That is how we feel. Also, we have never met an Ellie in either of our lives. So I’m sorry if I came accross rude.
