Full names vs. for nn Kate

Hi! we’re having a girl, and want to call her Kate. However, I am insisting that she have a longer, full name. I am okay with Katherine, however, my husband does not like it. We need some creative solutions since we dont like any other typical full name like Katelyn, Kathleen, Katrina, Katerina... etc. Any thoughts? thanks in advance =)

Why do you need to find a name that you won’t even use? If all you want to call her is Kate, make her life easier, and just name her that. You don’t need a more formal name that she will never use.

Just go with Kate, or a double name, like Abby-Kate....

Kate is a beautiful name that is great by itself. You really do not need a full name. It’s kind of silly to settle for something when you will call her Kate anyway. If you really want a full name, a double name seems to be a nice solution. Anna-Kate is very pretty. However, I would only go with something you love. Don’t settle just because you want something that works for Kate.H

Sorry, but I fully disagree with these posters telling you that Kate is fine on its own...
I think everyone needs a full name. Its more complete. And it gives the person a more professional and formal appearance once they are older. I think everyone can benefit from having a ’fuller’ name. Its more sophisticated as well.
That said...
I really like Katalina or Katrina. nn Kate.
good luck :)

My name is Kate, and I have always loved it. I have never felt as though it is not professional or that I need a more full name. I think Kate is one of the few names that is short and able to stand on it’s own. It’s like Claire. Claire is a short name, but it’s pretty on its own and I would not use a longer name for it.
