What about Michaela Katherine? Then you could still call her Katy.

Well, I’d say, "No," I don’t see it, but there aren’t any Laws....so if You want to name her Michaela and call her Katy, go for it.

I wonder if you might like Katinka or Catalina.

My husband is absolutely staying on the name Katy - he will NOT budge. I wouldn’t have a problem. I actually love it, except that I’ve always wanted to name my daughter Michaela after my mom.

I can see it. I don’t see it as that much of a stretch. Do it! It is a nice compromise you get to name your baby after your mom and hubby gets to use the nn that he likes. Win win.

Use your mom’s name as the mn. It would honor her just as well as the fn.
