Should We vs. Change The vs. Girls Names?

Hi! We have an adopted daughter called Liesel Arabella (8) We did not chose this name but liked it so decided to keep it. Now we are adopting twin girls. Their names are Bertha & Ursula. We really dislike these names and we don’t know whether to change them and give them a maybe bullied free life or let them have something to remember their own family by. HELP!

my answer depends on how old the girls are.

if they are under 2 I think you can change them pretty easily.

if they are older, you might want to talk to them about a name change and see how they feel. Maybe they’ll keep their given names as middle names. Maybe theyll want a total change.

I usually hear adopted kids keep one name used with a new name.

Yes, I would change them. Maybe you could choose a name that matches her sister’s?

If theyre young change them but make those names middle names. If there older keep them.

I’ve seen other people use the adopted fn’s as their new mn’s and then choose whatever fn they like and fits better with their family.

Maybe go with all L names...

Yikes, I would definitely change their names. And since they are so young I do not see you having a problem doing so. I too can see those names causing them some hardships while growing up.

Why don’t you just call them something else. I hate when people change names of adopted children.

Ursala - Suli or Layla
