If you use Lucy May I’d use the Mae spelling. The multiple y’s look odd to me but you can poll and see what other people think.
Having a formal name with nn options gives them more versatility as they age and apply for jobs and introduce themselves as adults. They will always be your "Lucy" but they will also be their own person and they’ll appreciate the options. Good luck.
