Miriam as a vs. middle name?

Is Miriam too old fashioned? I wanted to use it to honour a good friend and I do like the name because I think it’s quite a happy name, if you know what I mean. I’m just worried that it’s a bit old fashioned and I usually like more modern names so I’m worried about finding a first name to match. Any suggestions?

I don’t think Miriam is too old fashioned at all. In the UK older names are becoming popular(A friend of mine named her children Archie and Edith) and in America its becoming more accepted - especially as a mn with special meaning.

I like Miriam. Its not old-fashioned IMO. suggestions are: Elizabeth Miriam, Victoria Miriam, and Katherine Miriam. HTH!
