First, not fond of Declan and second I’m not sure where you get Dex from it. Deck maybe.

Neither is my style of name, but I think it totally works, and is kind of clever/cute without being ridiculous.

I think it works.The only other one I can think of is Dexter and I definiely like Declan better than that.

i think it could work if you give him a middle name that starts with an X. then combine part of the first and mns. and you get dex. eg declan xavier.
