Sawyer vs. other

I have been seeing a growing trend with naming girls Sawyer. Sawyer is a family name for us and to me seems clearly like a boys name. We are having a boy that we planned on naming Sawyer. What are your thoughts? Do you feel like its loosing it masculinity as far as a boys name? Should we go for it? Any suggestions?

If you think Sawyer is a boy’s name, it doesn’t matter! I personally think it is NOT a girl name. But whatever you decide, will be the perfect fit!

This has recently scared me too, since I have 3 yr. old twins: Sawyer & Samson (Both Boys) But I LOVE the name Sawyer and imo it’s an all boys name, (especially if you know the meaning!) I’d say go for it!

It IS a BOY name! I would HATE to be a GIRL named SAWYER! It’s very nice on a boy and it will age well!

Agree, clearly a boy name but people are trying to use all sorts of boy names on girls. Recently I’ve seen Ezra, Jonah and Jonas as well, not to mention Ryan and Carsyn.

I would be very careful giving my son a unisex name, but I hate it for you b/c it is a family name and YOU should get to use it! I personally would probably use it anyway, there can be that many crazy people out there wanting to name their daughters Sawyer!

I would do some research, checking the SSA site to see how many girl v. boy Sawyers there have been in the past few years.
