mara is nice, i would pronounce it maara, with the long a at the beggining. but, in the bible the name means bitter, if you would be worried about what it means

Mara can be pronounced MAR uh or MARE uh. I prefer MARE uh. I think it is a lovely name. Mary means bitter and Mary is a beautiful name so I wouldn’t worry about the meaning. Good luck!!!

Mara is beautiful and would be so refreshing on a little girl. I don’t know any myself. I wouldn’t worry about he meaning "bitter" as this is a meaning shared by all the Mary variants and has hardly caused a problem for all the people who have those names.

i worked with Mara...pronounced "Mar-uh". Pretty name..and unique. My son also goes to school with a Maren pronounced "Mah-ren". Both are great names!
