5 and 7 yr old vs. picking baby sister name

my 5 and 7 yr old step-daughters have ruled out every single name we have on our list...my husband really wants them involved but their only suggestion (being so young) was Flower...:) Any suggestion on how to handle the situation? (our list will be the first comment) Vanessa, Rich, Abigail and Sophie

I would just give them a list and tell them they can choose any name that is ON THAT LIST. They are old enough to understand this. It’s like when you offer them a choice for dinner - you don’t offer anything they want in the world, you offer maybe two or three things that you have in the fridge and are willing to prepare for them.

They are all great names. As much as he may want them to help, it might not be the best thing. Zoe Gabrielle would be cute, or Clara Noelle! Good luck!

Beautiful names! My favorite is Clara. Maybe you could tell your girls that they must choose their favorite name off of your list. That way, they’ll get to choose their sister’s name but it will definitely be a name you love. Or maybe you could pick the name of a specific flower for a middle name. Clara Violet is pretty! GL!

I agree with pp. They might ask for cookies every night, but would responsible parents give in to that? I like love Clara, Gabrielle is nice too. If you really want them more involved and they like the name "Flower," what about a flower name? That is if there are any flower names you and your husband like as well.

Love Clara Rose! I was going to suggest using a flower name as well, seems like the perfect compromise!
