I actually really like it.It’s unique but not too "out there" and not hard to pronounce or anything.I do prefer your spelling though.I would definitely go with Merrick.

I like it. My cousin’s son’s name is Marek, but I like your spellings too. of your 2 spellings, I’d vote Merrick.

Merrick could go by Erik, Rick,Ricky
or, depending on his middle name, he could go by his initials (i.e. MJ)
or, it’s a bit different, but I have a friend who’s initials are MD who’s nn is "Doc" (because you know, MD=Doctor)

Love it but I prefer the spelling Merrick. Marek is also interesting, it looks more like an original spelling, maybe Eastern European?
