Christopher Paul vs. Charlie vs. Oliver

We like less popular names, but my Dad was named Christopher Paul and passed away in Dec, which is why we’d consider it. Is it too popular? Also, I don’t love Chris or Topher. We’d have to call him Christopher. Is it worth going with the name to honor my dad even though it’s popular?

You could still honor your dad with using his full name:
Oliver Christopher (although be careful, Oliver is becoming quite popular)
Paul Christopher (I kindergartener named Paul a few years ago. The name really suited him. I love the name Paul!)

I was going to say if you don’t want to use Christopher Paul - although I really like it... you can just use one of the names as a mn or 1st name. Paul Christopher is also great! I actually think Oliver is more popular then Christopher you may want to look at some statistics.

Christopher is a typical name with NNs (I love names with NNs), if you don’t mind calling him with his formal name, then why not. Just asking, because Christopher is a very long name. But I think people or he will eventually go by a nn, it could be. But it could also be the opposite. I know 2 sisters with both 3 syllable names with nn, but their parents insisted on call them by their full names, so they are still not going by any nn, and it is easy to get used to that. So, no worries, I guess.

How about shortening it Christoph? It should be less common than Christopher. It still honors your father, but he would kinda have his own name.
You could also honor him by using Christopher as mn, or use Paul Christopher. Again, this way he’ll have his own name. But nothing wrong with Christopher Paul, as long as you love it.
I wouldn’t care about popularity. I love the name Charlotte because it was my grandma’s middle name, and of cause the sound, I just don’t really care for her firstname. But other than this one, I prefer simple, uncommon names.

Use Christopher Paul.
It’s a lovely tribute, and a great name.

As long as you don’t name him something that sounds like Aiden or ends in an N, you’ll be amazed at how unique his name is!!

Chip is an old, charming nn for Christopher.

I do also like Charlie and Oliver. They’d be nice for future brothers. :)
